The excellence of Valpolicella in one of Italy's great red wines
The Nicolis Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2020 is a powerful yet refined expression of Valpolicella Classica, shaped by patient craftsmanship and a deep respect for the traditions of the territory.
It is made from a careful selection of Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, and Croatina, with the grapes traditionally dried for approximately three months in the winery's drying room. This slow drying process concentrates aromas, sugars, and structure, creating an Amarone of remarkable intensity, complexity, and depth.
It is a wine of substance and character, capable of giving great pleasure today while offering the structure and balance to evolve beautifully over many years.
The winemaker's notes
"Amarone is one of the great symbols of Italian wine. In this interpretation by Nicolis, what I appreciate most is the balance: the richness created by the drying process is supported by elegance, freshness, and remarkable aromatic precision. A powerful wine, but never excessive."

Why we chose it
We selected this Amarone della Valpolicella Classico because it represents the Nicolis family's ability to respect tradition while pursuing elegance and balance.
It is a wine for special occasions, but also for anyone who wants to explore one of the most iconic expressions of Italian winemaking through the work of a historic family winery in Valpolicella.
The territory
The grapes come from Valpolicella Classica, on the hills of San Pietro in Cariano, in the heart of the historic Valpolicella area near Verona.
Here, calcareous and basaltic soils, together with the mild climate influenced by nearby Lake Garda and significant day-night temperature variations, create favourable conditions for producing healthy, aromatic grapes well suited to the traditional appassimento process.
The winery
The Nicolis family has been producing wine for generations in Valpolicella Classica, interpreting the historic wines of the area with a style that combines tradition, precision, and elegance.
Every stage of production is carefully followed, from the selection and drying of the grapes to the long maturation in oak. The aim is to preserve the authentic identity of Amarone while allowing the character of the territory to emerge with clarity.
