A mountain white born among some of Europe's highest vineyards
Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle Valle d'Aosta DOC by Cave Mont Blanc is one of Italy's most distinctive mountain white wines.
Made from 100% Prié Blanc, a rare native grape variety of the Aosta Valley, it comes from vineyards cultivated at the foot of Mont Blanc, between approximately 900 and 1,200 metres above sea level, among some of the highest vineyards in Europe.
Remarkably, Prié Blanc is still cultivated on its own roots, without grafting onto American rootstock, thanks to the sandy soils that helped protect the vines from phylloxera. This rare viticultural heritage is reflected in a wine of remarkable freshness, elegance and mineral character.
Pure and authentic, this is a white wine that captures the essence of its mountain origins through delicate aromas, vibrant freshness and a distinctive saline character.
The winemaker's notes
"Prié Blanc is one of those grape varieties capable of transforming altitude into elegance. It does not rely on concentration or power; its identity lies in finesse, freshness and a mineral character that few other Italian wines can offer."
— Yuri Stefani
Why we chose it
We chose Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle because it represents one of the purest expressions of Italian mountain viticulture.
It is born in extreme conditions, where each harvest reflects both human dedication and the challenges of the Alpine environment. Its authenticity makes it particularly fascinating for those who enjoy discovering native grape varieties and lesser-known wine regions with a distinctive identity.
A bottle defined by understated elegance, freshness and an exceptional ability to accompany food without ever overpowering it.
The territory
The grapes come exclusively from the municipalities of Morgex and La Salle, in the upper Aosta Valley, at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif.
The predominantly sandy soils of morainic origin, combined with the Alpine climate and significant differences between daytime and night-time temperatures, encourage slow, balanced ripening while preserving the grapes' natural acidity and delicate aromas.
Here, Prié Blanc continues to be cultivated on its own roots, making these vineyards a rare and precious example of Europe's viticultural heritage.
The winery
Cave Mont Blanc was founded in 1983 with the aim of preserving and promoting the unique viticultural heritage of Morgex and La Salle.
The cooperative brings together local winegrowers and specialises in Prié Blanc, interpreting this distinctive native variety through both still wines and Metodo Classico sparkling wines.
Its philosophy is deeply rooted in respect for the Alpine environment, producing wines that reflect the freshness, purity and unmistakable identity of their mountain origins.
