The elegance of Sangiovese in the heart of Chianti Classico
Vallepicciola’s Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2022 comes from Pievasciata, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, one of the most renowned areas of Chianti Classico. It is a refined expression of 100% Sangiovese, combining structure, freshness and elegance in a wine built to evolve gracefully over time.
Made from grapes selected from the estate’s finest vineyards, located between 380 and 440 metres above sea level, the wine undergoes extended maceration before ageing for 24 months in barriques, followed by at least 6 months in bottle. This long maturation develops remarkable complexity and depth while preserving the vibrant character that defines Sangiovese.
The winemaker’s notes
"Chianti Classico Riserva represents one of the noblest expressions of Sangiovese. I love it because it combines intensity and finesse so successfully: the fruit remains at the heart of the wine, supported by beautiful freshness and elegant tannins that allow it to evolve magnificently over the years."

Why we chose it
We chose this Chianti Classico Riserva because it perfectly expresses Vallepicciola’s approach: precision, elegance and deep respect for the territory.
It is a wine for both Chianti Classico enthusiasts and those looking to discover a Sangiovese of greater depth and personality — a bottle that can be enjoyed today at the table while offering the potential to develop beautifully over many years.
The territory
The vineyards are located in Pievasciata, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, at the southernmost end of the Chianti Classico denomination.
Here, soils characterised by limestone, clay, galestro and alberese, combined with altitude and significant day-to-night temperature variations, encourage slow and balanced ripening. These conditions help preserve the grapes’ aromatic intensity and natural acidity while contributing to the complexity and structure of the finished wine.
It is a territory with a long-standing tradition of producing outstanding expressions of Tuscan Sangiovese.
The winery
Vallepicciola is one of the dynamic estates of Chianti Classico. In recent years, the winery has established a distinctive approach based on modern viticulture while maintaining a strong respect for local tradition and the heritage of Castelnuovo Berardenga.
Its philosophy is centred on expressing the character of each vineyard through elegant, age-worthy wines with a strong sense of place, with particular attention to grape quality and the ageing process.
