The volcanic elegance of Carricante
Massimo Lentsch's Etna Bianco DOC demonstrates how Mount Etna can produce white wines of remarkable elegance and depth. Made predominantly from Carricante, the symbolic white grape variety of Etna, it comes from the northern slopes of the volcano, where altitude, volcanic soils, and significant temperature variations create wines of extraordinary finesse.
It is a white wine that stands out for its mineral tension, freshness, and ability to evolve over time. Elegant, deep, and authentic, it captures the character of Etna with every sip.
The winemaker's notes
"Carricante is one of Italy's great white grape varieties. On Etna, it develops a distinctive mineral character, supported by a freshness that allows the wine to evolve beautifully over time. This wine combines precision, elegance, and a personality that is difficult to forget."
— Yuri Stefani
Why we chose it
We selected this Etna Bianco because it perfectly represents Massimo Lentsch's philosophy: expressing the territory through essential, elegant wines that tell the story of the volcano without artifice.
It is an ideal bottle for anyone who wants to discover Carricante, as well as for enthusiasts of great Italian white wines with minerality, complexity, and excellent aging potential.
The territory
The vineyards are located on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, between 700 and 800 metres above sea level, on volcanic soils rich in lava sand, ash, and minerals.
The significant temperature variation between day and night allows the grapes to ripen slowly, preserving their natural acidity and aromatic freshness. The result is a wine that combines freshness, savouriness, and a distinctive mineral character — qualities that have made Etna Bianco one of Sicily's most fascinating white wines.
The winery
Massimo Lentsch has chosen to dedicate his work exclusively to the wines of Etna, cultivating old vineyards with deep respect for the territory and its biodiversity.
The winery's philosophy is based on minimal intervention in the cellar, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and patient aging designed to enhance the character of Carricante without masking its identity.
