The elegant and authentic face of Sicily
Frappato di Vittoria DOC by Paolo Calì reveals one of the most elegant and distinctive expressions of southeastern Sicily. Far from the image of powerful and concentrated Sicilian reds, Frappato stands out for its fragrance, finesse, and vibrant freshness.
Made from 100% Frappato, one of the native grape varieties most closely associated with the Vittoria area, it expresses the character of a territory shaped by Mediterranean light, sea breezes, and sandy soils of marine origin.
The result is a fragrant, graceful, and highly drinkable red, combining aromatic intensity with delicate tannins and remarkable versatility at the table. A wine that shows a lighter and more refined side of Sicily, without losing its strong sense of place.
The winemaker's notes
"Frappato is one of my favorite Italian grape varieties when I'm looking for elegance and drinkability. It doesn't aim for power, but for finesse: floral aromas, small red berries, delicate tannins, and a freshness that makes every sip dynamic. Paolo Calì's interpretation is authentic, precise, and deeply connected to the Vittoria territory."

Why we chose it
We chose this Frappato di Vittoria because it offers a particularly elegant interpretation of one of Sicily's most distinctive native grape varieties.
It is a refined, low-tannin red with an aromatic and fresh personality, making it especially appealing to those who enjoy lighter, more delicate reds. Its freshness also makes it a wine that can be served slightly chilled, particularly during warmer months.
At the table, its combination of fragrance, freshness, and delicate structure makes it remarkably versatile, working equally well with traditional Sicilian cuisine and more contemporary dishes.
The territory
The vineyards are located in Vittoria, in the province of Ragusa, one of Sicily's most distinctive areas for Frappato.
The sandy soils of marine origin, Mediterranean climate, and constant ventilation from the nearby sea encourage slow and balanced ripening. These conditions help preserve the grape's natural acidity and aromatic freshness while giving the wine its characteristic delicacy and elegance.
It is the meeting of sun, sea breeze, and sandy soils that gives Frappato di Vittoria its unmistakable Mediterranean personality.
The winery
Paolo Calì was founded with the aim of enhancing the native grape varieties of the Vittoria territory and expressing their character through respectful viticulture and minimally interventionist winemaking.
The winery focuses on the authentic identity of southeastern Sicily, allowing the grapes to express themselves with precision rather than relying on excessive concentration or heavy oak influence.
Frappato is one of the winery's key expressions of the Vittoria territory and an excellent introduction to the elegant side of Sicilian red wine.
