An unconventional expression of Teroldego, with fruit, freshness and Trentino character

Fuoricampo Teroldego 2023 by Cantina Breccia is a red wine that offers an artisanal and distinctive interpretation of one of Trentino's most representative grape varieties.

Made from 100% Teroldego, it comes from the Piana Rotaliana, in Mezzocorona, an area particularly suited to viticulture, at the foot of the Dolomites.

The name Fuoricampo already tells part of its story: the grapes come from vineyards located outside the geographical boundaries of the Teroldego Rotaliano DOC appellation. This allows the winery to explore a different expression of the grape while preserving its distinctive character and connection to the region.

In the glass, it reveals an intense yet balanced red wine, combining aromas of ripe red berries with delicate floral and spicy notes. The palate is smooth and juicy, supported by refreshing acidity that makes it particularly enjoyable and approachable.

A Teroldego with plenty of personality, but without excessive concentration, expressing its origins through thoughtful winemaking.

The winemaker's notes

"Fuoricampo is a Teroldego that we particularly appreciate for its balance between intensity and drinkability. The fruit is ripe and expressive, supported by lovely freshness and a smooth texture. A short period of ageing in wood adds depth without overshadowing the character of the grape."

Why we chose it

We chose Fuoricampo by Cantina Breccia because it offers a distinctive interpretation of Teroldego, moving beyond the most traditional expressions while maintaining a strong connection with its Trentino origins.

What particularly impressed us is its balance: ripe fruit, floral and spicy nuances, and a well-defined structure are beautifully complemented by the freshness of the palate.

This is a wine that does not rely on power to make an impression, but instead wins you over with its immediacy and personality.

A versatile red, ideal for those who appreciate wines with a strong sense of place, made with care and designed to accompany food naturally.

The terroir

Fuoricampo comes from the Piana Rotaliana, in Trentino, one of the most important areas for Teroldego cultivation.

The vineyards are located in the Zablani area of Mezzocorona, on alluvial soils shaped by the activity of the Noce stream.

The soil has a sandy-loam top layer, followed by a deeper layer rich in gravel, stones and coarse material. These characteristics promote good drainage and help define the expression of the grapes.

The Piana Rotaliana is often described as a hill on the plain, thanks to its distinctive geographical formation, surrounded by steep rocky slopes and characterised by mineral-rich soils.

This environment provides ideal conditions for Teroldego to develop colour, structure and aromatic intensity while retaining good freshness.

The winery

Cantina Breccia is a small winery based in Mezzocorona, in the heart of the Piana Rotaliana. It was established with the aim of bringing the grapes from its own vineyards directly into the winery and developing an artisanal wine project.

The winery is led by Omar, a third-generation winegrower who has chosen to progressively invest in producing wine from his own grapes.

Its philosophy places the terroir, respect for natural cycles and the authentic expression of local grape varieties at the centre of its work.

Alongside Teroldego, the winery produces Lagrein, Chardonnay and other wines that showcase the diversity of Trentino.

Fuoricampo perfectly reflects this desire to experiment and explore the potential of Teroldego beyond the boundaries of its best-known appellation.
