Sicily's only DOCG, expressed through two great native grape varieties

Paolo Calì's Manene Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG Classico is the wine that most fully represents the winery's philosophy. It was the first label produced by Paolo Calì and takes its name from Emanuele, Paolo's son, whose childhood pronunciation turned his name into “Manene”. A wine rooted in family history, territory, and Sicilian winemaking tradition.

It is made from the historic blend of 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato, the two native varieties that define Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG, Sicily's only DOCG appellation. Nero d'Avola brings structure, depth, and ripe fruit, while Frappato contributes fragrance, freshness, and elegance.

The result is a refined and balanced red with remarkable versatility, expressing the distinctive character of Vittoria with both depth and freshness.

The winemaker's notes

"Cerasuolo di Vittoria is one of the Italian wines that best expresses the idea of balance. The strength of Nero d'Avola and the delicacy of Frappato complement each other, creating an elegant, dynamic, and remarkably gastronomic red. Manene is one of the most authentic expressions of this historic appellation."

Why we chose it

We chose Manene because it represents an authentic expression of southeastern Sicily and the distinctive identity of Cerasuolo di Vittoria.

It combines complexity and drinkability while maintaining a clear sense of place. Its elegance and freshness make it appealing both to experienced wine lovers and to anyone discovering Cerasuolo di Vittoria for the first time.

The territory

The vineyards are located around Vittoria, in the province of Ragusa, in southeastern Sicily.

Here, sandy soils of marine origin, shaped by wind and rich in mineral elements, meet a Mediterranean climate tempered by the proximity of the sea. These conditions favour the balanced ripening of Nero d'Avola and Frappato, preserving freshness and aromatic definition while giving the wines their distinctive savory character.

It is a territory particularly suited to expressing the elegance and freshness that distinguish Cerasuolo di Vittoria.

The winery

The Paolo Calì winery was founded in Vittoria with the aim of expressing the native grape varieties of southeastern Sicily through respectful viticulture and artisan winemaking.

Every wine is the result of careful work in the vineyard and cellar, with the intention of preserving the natural identity of the grapes and telling the story of the territory as clearly as possible.

Manene is the symbolic wine of this philosophy: the winery's first label and a deeply personal expression of the relationship between family, native varieties, and the land of Vittoria.
