Traditional Marsala, aged over time and rich in character
Marsala Superiore Garibaldi Dolce by Alagna Vini is a classic expression of one of Sicily's most historic wines. It is made from a blend of Grillo, Catarratto, and Inzolia, enriched with cooked must and wine alcohol, then aged for at least two years in large oak barrels kept in the winery's historic tuff caves.
Time gives the wine its distinctive oxidative character, developing intense aromas, remarkable softness, and extraordinary persistence. Rich yet elegant, this is a Marsala made for the end of a meal, but also one to savour slowly on its own, discovering its complexity sip after sip.
The winemaker's notes
"Marsala is one of the most important wines in the history of Italian winemaking and deserves to be rediscovered. I like this Garibaldi Dolce because it combines intensity and elegance: it is wonderful with chocolate desserts, but also simply enjoyed slowly at the end of dinner."

Why we chose it
We chose this Marsala because it represents an authentic expression of the historic Marsala tradition.
The long aging in oak gives the wine complexity, depth, and its characteristic oxidative character, while the addition of cooked must contributes a distinctive bittersweet richness. The result is a generous and enveloping Marsala with remarkable persistence.
The territory
Marsala can only be produced in Marsala and the surrounding municipalities of western Sicily, a territory shaped by sunshine, Mediterranean winds, and the influence of the sea.
The warm, breezy climate favours the full ripening of the grapes, while the traditional aging process in large oak barrels allows the wine to develop the complex oxidative aromas that have made Marsala famous around the world.
The winery
Founded in 1946, Alagna Vini is one of the historic wineries of Marsala. The estate has long specialised in Marsala and other wines rooted in the traditions of western Sicily.
Inside the winery's traditional tuff caves, large oak barrels provide a cool and protected environment where the wines can mature slowly over time, developing depth and aromatic complexity.
The Angileri line brings together wines that represent the character and heritage of the Marsala territory.
