Primitivo that combines intensity and elegance
Primitivo Orion by Masseria Li Veli is born in the heart of Salento, from vineyards trained using both the traditional alberello (bush vine) and spurred cordon systems, on clay and sandy soils rich in limestone. It is a wine that interprets Primitivo in a modern and refined style: rich in fruit yet always balanced, expressing the character of Puglia without excess.
The name Orion derives from the Greek term oros, meaning “border”, and refers to the ancient road that once marked the boundary between Byzantine and Lombard territories near the masseria. A tribute to the history of this land, now captured in a glass.
The winemaker's notes
"I like it because it shows that Primitivo can be intense without being heavy. The fruit is the protagonist, but it is always supported by pleasant freshness that makes the wine enjoyable from the first sip to the last. It is a bottle I often recommend to those who want to discover the true character of Salento."

Why we chose it
We chose Orion because it represents an authentic interpretation of Salento Primitivo. It is an intense and enveloping wine, yet it retains a pleasant freshness that makes it remarkably versatile at the table.
Perfect for those looking for a soft and generous red without sacrificing elegance.
The territory
The grapes come from Salento, a land where sunshine, wind, and the proximity of the sea contribute to optimal grape ripening. The clay-limestone soils provide structure and depth, while temperature variations between day and night help preserve aromatic intensity and balance.
The winery
Masseria Li Veli is one of Puglia's leading wineries. Based in Cellino San Marco, it enhances indigenous grape varieties through viticulture that respects the territory and winemaking focused on expressing the character of each wine.
The oenological consultancy of Roberto Cotarella has contributed to shaping a distinctive style in which tradition and precision coexist harmoniously.
