Chenin Blanc freshness meets the limestone soils of Cahors
Les Pièces Longues is a distinctive white wine revealing a less familiar side of south-western France. Fabien Jouves works with Chenin Blanc, a grape variety most closely associated with the Loire Valley, growing it on the limestone soils of the Cahors plateau to create a wine that combines energy, depth and precision.
The grapes come from a specific parcel in the Les Cazalous lieu-dit, in Trespoux-Rassiels. Kimmeridgian limestone helps shape the wine’s freshness and mineral character, while ageing in wood adds texture and complexity without compromising its lively profile.
The result is a food-friendly white wine with a clear identity: citrus, white-fleshed fruit and floral nuances are supported by a savoury, mineral palate and a long, precise finish.
The winemaker’s notes – Yuri Stefani
An appealing Chenin Blanc for the way it balances texture and tension. Citrus, white fruit and delicate floral notes emerge on the nose, while the palate combines freshness with a broader texture shaped by ageing in wood. Mineral and saline nuances carry through to the finish, keeping it lively and clean.
This is a wine made for the table. Rather than relying solely on immediate fruitiness, it invites you to follow its development in the glass and pair it with dishes that complement its structure.
Why we chose it
Because it shows how differently a grape variety can express itself beyond its best-known region. Les Pièces Longues combines the identity of Chenin Blanc with the limestone terroir of south-western France, supported by organic and biodynamic farming and a winemaking approach that allows the wine and its origins to speak.
A great choice for those who enjoy dry, mineral and gastronomic white wines that balance freshness with texture.
The terroir
The vineyard parcel lies in Trespoux-Rassiels, in the Cahors area of south-western France, at approximately 350 metres above sea level. Its Kimmeridgian limestone, also found in other renowned French wine regions, contributes finesse, freshness and a distinctive mineral character.
Here, Chenin Blanc—more commonly associated with the Loire Valley—takes on a different expression, combining ripe fruit with savoury tension and enough structure to complement a wide range of dishes.
The winery
Fabien Jouves runs Mas del Périé, an estate in Cahors focused on expressing the character of its different terroirs. His approach combines organic and biodynamic farming, biodiversity and low-intervention winemaking. Alongside Malbec, the region’s signature grape, Jouves also cultivates and explores varieties less commonly associated with the area, including Chenin Blanc.
